About Iqra Foundation
Iqra Foundation for Educational and Economic Empowerment (IFEEE) is a Delhi-based nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming society through accessible education and sustainable economic upliftment. Established in 2016, IFEEE focuses on empowering underprivileged communities with tools of knowledge, skills, and Islamic values.
The Institute of Islamic Economics and Finance (IIEF) is a flagship initiative of IFEEE aimed at bridging traditional Islamic knowledge with contemporary financial systems.
IIEF offers educational programs that blend classical Shariah scholarship with modern economic tools—empowering students, professionals, and institutions to implement ethical, just, and sustainable financial practices rooted in Islamic values.

Director's Message
Biography
Dr. Saleem Ahmed Qasmi is a distinguished scholar of Islamic Economics, educator, and social reformer committed to integrating traditional Islamic scholarship with modern academic disciplines. He currently serves as the Director of the Institute of Islamic Economics (معهد الاقتصاد الاسلامی) in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh, and is the General Secretary of the IQRA Foundation for Educational and Economic Empowerment (IFEEE).
Dr. Qasmi’s educational background combines both traditional and contemporary streams. He completed his Ph.D. and M.Phil in Islamic Economics from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, focusing his doctoral research on “Shariah Supervision of Islamic Modes of Finance in the Arab Countries”. He also holds Master’s degrees in Economics and Islamic Studies, and is a graduate of the renowned Darul Uloom Deoband, where he specialized in Hadith, Fiqh, and Tafseer. In addition, he is a Hafiz of the Holy Qur’an and holds multiple diplomas in the Arabic language.
Over the past 15 years, Dr. Qasmi has been actively involved in teaching, research, administration, and institutional development. His professional experience includes teaching positions at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, and academic leadership roles at Shaheen Group of Institutions, Global Islamic Academy, and Jamia Millia Islamia’s Centre for Distance and Open Learning, where he worked as an Economics counselor. He also teaches Islamic Economics as a Visiting Lecturer at the Deoband Institute of Islamic Thought.
Dr. Saleem Ahmed Qasmi is also recognized for his contributions to global academic platforms. He has worked as Assistant Head (India) for the Contending Modernities Project under the University of Notre Dame (USA), participating in international dialogues on madrasa transformation, ethics, and peacebuilding.
Vision and Social Mission
Driven by a deep concern for the upliftment of the Muslim community, Dr. Qasmi is committed to mainstreaming madarsa students by offering them access to modern education, Islamic economic literacy, and vocational training opportunities. Through his leadership in the IQRA Foundation and other platforms, he is working to develop skill-based programs for educational dropouts and underprivileged youth, particularly in marginalized Muslim localities. His mission is to empower the next generation with the tools needed to thrive spiritually, intellectually, and economically in a changing world.
Publications and Research
Dr. Qasmi has authored multiple research papers and book chapters on Shariah governance, Islamic banking, and financial behavior. His work has been published in respected journals such as Islam and the Modern Age and BULMIM Journal of Management. He is currently engaged in a major research project with the Centre for Study and Research (CSR) to compile an annotated bibliography on Islamic Economics, Banking, and Finance.
Conferences and International Engagement
He has presented at numerous national and international forums, including conferences in Qatar, Nepal, Kochi, and New Delhi, covering topics like zakat, sustainable Islamic finance, and Islamic theological ethics. His participation in forums such as the Kroc Institute of International Peace Studies and IOS Delhi underscores his role as a bridge between classical knowledge and modern policy dialogue.
Educational Innovation and Youth Empowerment
Dr. Qasmi has led several inter-school programs in Arabic and Urdu language education, and actively designs community-based educational initiatives. His work emphasizes the importance of integrated learning, moral development, and economic self-reliance grounded in Islamic teachings.

Biography
Dr. Mahboob Thaha is a PhD holder in West Asian Studies from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. He has done his graduation in Islamic Studies from Al Jamia Al Islamia, Malappuram - Kerala, India and post-graduation in Quranic Studies from the same institution. Besides he also holds a post-graduation in Islamic Studies from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. He has also done an M.Phil in West Asian Studies from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. At present he is a teacher in the department of Islamic Studies at Global English School, Al Ain - UAE.
